Rev. Elliott Robinson, JD, MDiv is guided by the principle: “Love God, Love People” (Matt 22:37-40).
MINISTRY LEADERSHIP
Rev. Robinson is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and currently serves as the Pastor of Nimno AME Church in Nicholson, GA (just outside of Athens, GA).
Rev. Robinson serves as a Research Assistant for AME General Officer Dr. Teresa Fry Brown (Department of Research and Scholarship). He recently worked with the AME Christian Education sub-committee responsible for re-imagining the AME Sunday School curriculum. Rev. Robinson has been published in the AME scholarly journal, The AME Review. He also serves as a Teaching Assistant for the Introduction to Preaching Course at Emory University's Candler School of Theology.
Prior to his appointment at Nimno, Rev. Robinson served as an Associate Minister at Saint Philip AME Church (Atlanta). From 2013 - 2018, under the visionary leadership of Senior Pastor, Rev. William D. Watley, PhD, Rev. Robinson was actively engaged as: Leader, 13/30 Men’s Ministry; Youth Minister, Risen Generation Youth Church; Leadership Team, Chefs Galore; and, Facilitator, Because We Have Daughters.
MORAL LEADERSHIP
An advocate of social justice and criminal justice reform, Rev. Robinson was the co-founder and ecumenical leader for the inaugural DeKalb County Job Fair & Criminal Record Restriction Summit (April 2018). This effort brought together leaders from the DeKalb County Judiciary, DeKalb County government and law enforcement, state agencies, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, The Georgia Justice Project, as well as employers and service providers from across the state.
In the Fall of 2016, Rev. Robinson collaborated with activist Rev. Samuel White, MDiv and developed an online advocacy campaign which helped defeat the Opportunity School District Amendment in Georgia.
Rev. Robinson’s passion for leadership led him to travel to Seoul, South Korea for a study on moral leadership with renowned theologian and Emory’s Laney Chair in Moral Leadership, Dr. Robert Franklin. Together with a cohort of scholars, they examined: North and South Korean relations; the South Korean faith community; the Comfort Women tragedy and relations with Japan.
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
In the Spring of 2017, Rev. Robinson launched the podcast and not-profit, Creative Tension. Creative Tension takes an in-depth look at people and periods forgotten by history, with a look at the Jim Crow era. Creative Tension has also developed curriculum centered on the Jim Crow era that has been used in middle and high schools in the Atlanta area.
Along with Dr. Maiysha Clairborne, Elliott (aka “Rev E-Rob”) was the co-host of the highly successful podcast, the Wellness Blueprint. They took a holistic approach to the mind, body and soul by converting topics such as health, faith, nutrition, medicine, conflict, communications and self-care.
Rev. Robinson earned his Master of Divinity from Emory’s Candler School of Theology as a Sims Garrett Scholar and Larry Ted May Scholar, with a focus on Leadership in Church and Community and Race and Religion. Hereceived his Juris Doctor from the Howard University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz.
Rev. Robinson resides in the Atlanta area with his lovely wife Ayanna and their two daughters (Patricia and Julia).
